Grant had its contract to provide comprehensive facility management services at the Joseph Kohn Training Center extended by the State of New Jersey.
Located in New Brunswick, NJ, Joseph Kohn Training Facility teaches blind and visually impaired people life skills that enable an independent lifestyle. Students gain skills to attend college, seek employment, and become independent. The facility, which includes 24 in-patient beds and 25 resident outpatients, features areas to learn, including kitchens, laundry rooms, grocery shopping areas, bathrooms, and general home settings. There are also teaching areas for telephone usage, reading and writing Braille, computer training, and orientation and mobility, including long-cane techniques.
As the on-site facility manager, Grant is responsible for preventive maintenance, grounds maintenance, laundry and linen management, fire alarm testing, inspections, and repairs. Our firm also manages subcontracts for elevator repair, pest control, and water treatment; handles housekeeping activities, including developing and utilizing an electronic cleaning management system for scheduling, tasks, and quality assurance/quality control of work; and provides painting and general carpentry as needed.
“The true hallmark of a partnership between a client and a consultant is being selected for repeat assignments,” said Jim N. Grant, owner and founder of Grant. “That the State of New Jersey has elected to exercise the extension option in our contract signifies that our on-site professionals are performing in an effective, efficient, and responsive manner that we can all be proud of.
“We believe a crucial differentiator for our firm is the ability to respond to the State’s diverse needs at this facility. Our business structure features an all-inclusive, in-house set of professionals that allows us to respond immediately without needing to rely on other contractors.”
Continued Grant, “A great case in point is our ability to respond to our clients’ needs as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. We were able to provide the State, and all our clients really, with same-day services, including temperature scanning and disinfecting services, to prevent the spread of coronavirus, with CDC-certified equipment, processes, and cleaning products.”
